About us

Time for the Homeless is a Kent-based charity supporting the homeless community and vulnerable individuals in Medway and Maidstone.

The charity was set up in 2015 by husband and wife team, Michelle and Mark Langley. The couple were inspired to set up Time for the Homeless after being deeply affected by a close friend’s tragic death, who was sleeping rough at the time.

We have a team of around 20 unpaid volunteers who run a service of soup kitchens and provide a range of other support for those who are homeless or facing difficulties.

As well as catering for over 100 people (sometimes more!) every week at our soup kitchens in Maidstone, Chatham and Rochester, our volunteers also regularly deliver food parcels to families in need of help, provide furniture for people in temporary accommodation, and support people with housing, drugs and alcohol referrals.

The charity is almost completely self-funded and operates on the generosity of donations. For Mark and Michelle, Time for the Homeless is their vocation. They cook all the meals served at the soup kitchen in their own kitchen at home, and deliver them in their own van.
